Google, Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Uber, Airbnb.... all have something in common. They operate innovative digital platform business models. Today’s rules of doing business with digital platforms are radically different from the ones used by traditional businesses. Most digital businesses run on asset-light business models. This gives them the capacity to scale at an unprecedented pace. Moreover, business ecosystems fueled by digital platforms now enable innovations to happen outside the boundaries of focal firms.
